Melissa Snover, the award-winning entrepreneur behind Birmingham-based Rem3dy Health and Nourished, has been named among the top 10 winners in the Department for Business and Trade’s (DBT) inaugural Female Founders initiative. The programme, run by the DBT’s Venture Capital Unit, aims to identify and support promising female-led businesses across the UK, giving them a platform to scale up and access funding.
The Female Founders initiative was launched to address the long-standing imbalance in venture capital investment for women-led businesses. In the UK, all-female founder teams have received only around 2% of total equity capital investment over the past decade. The campaign seeks to highlight the most innovative women in the business world and bring their ideas to the attention of key stakeholders in the investment community.
Melissa Snover, known for her pioneering work in personalised nutrition, was selected after a rigorous process. A panel of venture capital judges assessed shortlisted businesses based on innovation, scalability, and commercial viability. At the initiative’s launch event in London today (17 September), Snover and the other winners had the opportunity to present one-minute elevator pitches showcasing their companies to a group of prominent investors from the global venture capital sector.
Speaking about her inclusion in the Female Founders initiative, Snover said: “Investment into female-led businesses has been under intense scrutiny recently, making today’s event significant not just for me but for the wider entrepreneurial and investment communities. With challenges increasing in securing funding, being selected as part of the DBT’s first-ever Female Founders initiative is an incredible honour.”
“I’ve been passionate about innovation in nutrition for over 20 years, and my latest venture, Nourished, brings something truly unique to the market. This initiative provides an invaluable platform to showcase our work to a global network of investors, all of whom are actively seeking new opportunities in the UK,” she added.
Melissa Snover has over two decades of entrepreneurial experience and has been recognised for her expertise in innovation and brand development. She founded Rem3dy Health in 2019, and her company has since achieved notable success, including raising the highest ever female-founder seed round in UK history. In addition to her business acumen, Snover is a registered nutritionist and inventor, holding several patents for her work.
Rem3dy Health focuses on creating personalised healthcare solutions, both preventative and curative, through its brands Nourished and Scripted. Nourished, Snover’s latest creation, is the world’s first personalised gummy stack made using 3D printing technology. Earlier this year, Rem3dy Health was honoured with the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, recognising the company’s groundbreaking work in 3D printing and its development of a vegan encapsulation formula.
With the support of the DBT’s Female Founders initiative, Snover hopes to expand the reach of Nourished and continue leading the way in personalised health solutions. The initiative will provide her and the other nine entrepreneurs access to the Venture Capital Unit’s global investor network over the coming year, as they continue to grow their businesses and attract new investment.
