Aims
- To outline a sound theoretical grounding of the principles and techniques of the solution focused approach
- To practice the application of the approach using case studies and your own experiences your projects
- To explore how the approach can be applied in work with volunteers, service users and organisationally
Audience
- Managers and co-ordinators of mentoring programmes
Learning outcomes
- To identify the most appropriate areas of your organisation’s work for the application of the approach
- To apply the approach to your casework with clients to increase positivity and self esteem, as well as to identify strengths and coping strategies
- To apply the approach when structuring supervision sessions with frontline volunteers to maximise motivation and direction
- To identify and plan how to implement the approach internally within your own organisation
Trainer biographer
Matt Collins is the Training Officer at children’s charity Chance UK, which provides a mentoring service for children aged 5-11 with behavioural difficulties. He delivers training in London, with Chance UK’s partner projects nationwide and for external organisations. He has worked in the voluntary sector for 7 years as a trainer and volunteer co-ordinator in both London and Manchester.
