A volunteering manifesto
The latest sector body to issue a manifesto in the run up to the general election is Volunteering England. Entitled 'The Power of Volunteering'. (See earlier news item for other manifestos.)
Calls on the future government include:
- Ensure all legislation is 'volunteer-proofed' by working with partners from the volunteering movement to examine the impact on volunteering of all proposed bills and regulations.
- Protect the 'voluntariness' of volunteering by clearly distinguishing genuine volunteering opportunities from Government programmes, such as civic service, which may involve some compulsion or coercion.
