Scottish CIO legal model for 2010
The latest e-newsletter from Scottish charity regulator OSCR states that the Scottish Government does not expect its version of the Charitable Incorporated Organisation legal model to be available for use before 2010.
An official working group of stakeholders with requisite expertise and experience in charity law, accounting and governance has been established to advise on how best to implement a regime for SCIOs that is "cost-effective, straightforward and tailored to the needs of charities in Scotland" - updates should appear at http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/People/15300/charities/law.
It is expected that the CIO model for England and Wales will be ready sometime in 2009, with consultation closing in a few days (10th December) - http://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/enhancingcharities/cio.asp.
